ive heard that those f20b motors are bad-ass,but hard to find parts for. good luck,it should be a monster when its done.

is it a vtec h22a or non-vtec h22a? thats the only thing i can think of why there would b a different hp rating. if it has vtec it should be runnin 200horses or so.

well,at this point i need to locate the external vtec oil line kit and then my h22vtec head is headed to an engine building/machine shop to have the vtec oil hole "plugged" and the oil ports matched up. only gonna run me 50 bucks to have the head done right. Thanx everyone for all the input so...

apparently it looks like the h23vtec from the accords only came with an auto tranny,so... if thats the case,then if the h22 p13 ecu doesnt run the h23vtec build very well ...shouldnt i be fine with a fully programmable skunk2 p13 ecu if i have the car dyne-tuned?

i plan on building this h23vtec motor and looks like i found my answer about running the p13 ecu from an h22. now the problem is where can u track down an ecu from the true jdm h23a vtec motor is what id like to know? if i find out ill post it up for everyone.

its gonna take me a while to get it done,still tryin to do as much research as i can to get it all to work,minor things like which manifolds to use and timing belt...little things like that. i have a friend that has done many b18 and b16 builds,so i know about running the vtec oil lines...

apparently 96ekhatch doesnt understand tthe dynamics of a "fresh" healthy motor compared to a "tired" higher mileage motor.do u really think that tuning them the same would give the same results? like everyone says,its a 50/50 chance that u could end up with engine falier. thats alot of work for a relativly crappy transmission choice to put on an h series motor...definately not worth it. if u want shorter ratios go with the h23 tranny...stronger,more reliable,made for your chassis and no modifications to make it work,plus its built to actually properly move the...

not alot of cutting,if u see how its ran in the preludes you will understand what i mean...two 1" or 1 and a half inch holes in the firewall to run the two shift cables to the tranny from the shifter. instead of a rod shifter that runs under the car u have cables that run from the inside. id say...

only thing that confuses me is why an h23 head will work on an f22 block but the h22vtec head doesnt...yet you can take a h22vtec head and put it on an h23 block. how does that work?

its only difficult if you dont have the engine mount conversion kit,any h or j series tranny. besides the axels and all that stuff. then u need the whole shifter,assembly and shift cables...then u gotta do a little cutting in the firewall and minor fabrication to mount the cable-shifter...

if u wanna keep ur motor n/a and it looks like you have just about all the external aftermarket available parts already...all there is you can do to the h23 is get a stronger crank,stronger forged connecting arms,better micro-polished race bearings,cams and boost up the compression with some...

from what ive been reading around here...and im new around here...that u can take an h23a head and run it no problems on the f22a block...essentially its the exact same thing as the actual f22b(DOHC) motor from what i understand.

ive got a 92 prelude si with an h23a1 engine,would like to install an h22vtec head on my h23 block...does it matter what year range the h22 head is? i can get a head from a 98 prelude h22vtec,could i slap that one on my block or do i have to find an h22vtec head from the 92-95 preludes?please...
