Ok, I just bought the Mahle pistons and eagle rod combo, BUT they are for a GSR. Will they fit with no clearance problems on a B18A1 Crank inside a B18A1 Block? or If I get a Gsr Crank, will it fit in the B18A1 block with those rods and pistons?
really? you are the first to say that I need the block sleeved on this forum and another that I have. Will the block really not be able to handle 300-350Hp? If I get the block sleeved then I'll be damned if I stop at 15hp and/or 350Hp.
Thx alot, I already knew some of it. When I say this is my first build I mean that this is the first time I took the time to build the engine myself, :D. I have been boosting for about 2 1/2 - 3 years. Even still I like this write up. It just makes everything so simple.
I heard a rumor from a friend and logically it makes sense. He said to run the Type R oil pump with my Boost build. He said the reason for this is there is a minor price difference if any and the oil pump is designed for an engine the revvs higher, so therefore would supply adequate oil for a...
Ok this is a branch off of my other post "B18B turbo build". I plan on running the following:
Stock ( Rebuilt and Machined) Head with a complete valve job done
Stock Block ( that has been honed and hot tanked)
SRP Pistons 8.5:1 or 9.0:1...not sure yet
Eagle Rods
Stock ( Polished Crank)...
nvm, sig isnt on this site ...ooops, "If you dont have the time and money to do it right the first time, then when will you have the time and money to do it again?"
After reading that thread it looks like both will suffice, I really didnt see anything bad on either. No one said oem crapped out on them and the main thing I am shooting for is reliability so I just may go with those, however if the acl bearings come as a package with the pistons I will just...
thx alot, you are right about that, honda does know what they are doing, however I figured with more power comes more need for upgraded parts. I will read the thread you posted though and see whats up, thx alot again :D
OK cool, is there a reason you would use the OEM ones over the race ones? I mean they are not too much more for the rod, main, and thrust bearings ($125) Do the OEM ones provide something that the others don't?
also, 2 other questions. If I have a head that has had the bottom end machined should I use a cometic head gasket? also should I use ACL race bearings or Clevite H series?
ok cool, im looking for 300-350hp and even if I don't reach it I'm cool, reliability is what I'm really aiming for......cause I'm gonna abuse this thing :D
