watching the History Channel right now and there is a cool ass series on
its called History Rocks
basically it takes a year (this episode is 1979) and talks about all of the major events of that year, but it does it with the soundtrack of popular music from that year

A show that proves history should be heard as well as seen. The year: 1979. On the radio: Blondie, The Knack, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Steely Dan. In the papers: Skylab, the Hostage Crisis, Three Mile Island, and Lee Iacocca. Learn the details that the headline banners left out...all to a beat you can rock to!

me and Brian watched a few of these one night about a month ago... its pretty kick ass you get a LOT of infortmation and some cool ass music

it will be replaying at 6pm

just a heads up about yet another kick ass show to keep an eye out for on History Channel

For those who prefer to get their schoolin' teaspoon fed :)

I would prolly be interested in it just for the music. I'm a huge music history buff

i never said that it gives you the in depth stories behind each event... they cant they only have an hour to cover an entire year
but they will give you a lot more informathion than you ever got in school about it
i am a huge fan of history... and history class in school pissed me off more than just about anything... every other year you cover the same fucking thing... either egyptians, greeks, romans, the very begining of europe... or columbus, colonies, revolution, civil war... never did i get to learn about the industrial age, the great depression, world war 1 or 2, the korean war, the vietnam war, etc... all of that is good shit that is actually relevant to today... but no... i got to learn the same wattered down version of history over and over again (most of which was only part of the real story or flat out inaccurate)

how many people knew that the REAL reason Columbus was looking for a faster route to India was actually for the opium trade, not gold?

should this show be your only source of information??? fuck no... but it might spark peoples interest in historical events and lead them to research things further on their own

i caught it at a friends, good show. I love the history channel, errr i mean the Hitler channel. YOull learn some great things from the History channel.. like how Hitler had a plan to bomb the US using a Nuke that he was transporting to Japan via submarine, and the US caught them and brought them into port on US soil, turns out the plans were for them to bomb us about 3-4 days after they surrenderd. They actually told the captain of the sub to come back, but he didnt and kept going towards japan.

usa could have been bombed.
