I live in Oregon and it is cold here.
When I first got my car the temp rarly ever got up off of cold and it idled fast.

I had a new themostate installed and now it warms up , the heater works but after about 1/2 of driveing the idle bounces. 1000-1200, 1000-1200 and just keeps it up.

before it starts bouncing it idles around 7-800.

I did bleed the collant and found no bubbles.

Any ideas on how to stop the bounceing idle?

1990 Honda CRX HF with a D15B7 engine form a 1992-95 LX.

TIA

Bob

I dont know if the d15b7 has one, but the Fast Idle Thermo Valve is usually the culprit here. Try removing the valve from the throttle body and screwing down the little adjuster inside. Dont REALLY screw it in. Just kinda snug.

I had a similar problem with 1990 Si/ZC setup. Turns out the temp sensor lead was making intermittent contact. The difference with mine is that it'd sometimes do 2500/3500/2500/3500/2500/3500............ sometimes it would do 1000/1200/1000/1200....

Splicing in a "new" connector to the temp sensor did the trick for me.

Cheers,

Jim

like reikoshea said the fast idle usually is the culprit. snug it up it should stop for a bit then after 2 months or so ur gonna have to do it again.
