he signed up for a contract on a team that competes in certain classes. if he didn't want to be blocked from events, he shouldn't have gotten greedy with his contract.

youve got this pretty much 100% wrong

he refused to sign a contract that would have locked him in with Major League Eating, because he wanted to be free to compete in any events, not tied to one organization

so MLE threw a shit fit and blocked him from competing in the event

it's kobayashi's sport. even though chestnutt has one it the last few years, nobody would give a fuck if a 135lb japanese kid didn't win it 7 years in a row. nobody would know anything about "competive eating", nathans hot dogs, or even the whole hot dog eating contest.

nobody knew what the fuck the "tour de france" was until greg lemond won so many times. it doesn't matter what it cost, they owe it to kobayashi to have him there competing.
