Easy- the domestic guys and the VW guys have been doing this forever. I'm currently looking at the possibility of shoving a B or K block into the back of a VW Karmann Ghia... there are adapter plates for just about every engine type out there.

Oldschool VWs can pretty much have anything mounted in them. I have seen some crazy shit swapped into dune buggies.
