yea my dad who works at the Detroit VA and is the head of personel services told me about this. He said it was going to cost the gov millions because they are going to have to change a shit load of stuff (he didn't really mention what security things would have to be changed)

If I were him, I'd leave the country.
26.5 million pist off people, at you! = bad
26.5 million Veterans pist off, at you! = very bad. I would guess the majority owns guns and knows how to use them. Not to mention that a few maybe be mentally unstable.

this happened at boeing about 2 or 3 months ago. someone took a computer home. that got them into some shit to.

A few months back, CitiCard/Citibank had all their credit card info jacked while en route via UPS.

Stuff like this happens all the time. Whatever. Whats someone going to do with the info? Hunt you down and skull fuck you? Invade your privacy? Who fucking cares, quit worrying what other people do and what they think.

lets think about this man, the VA has my address, social security number, my birth date, phone number, all my personal records and information, and mostly my bank account information for direct deposits.

so yes, it pretty much gives them a way to invade my privacy or steal my identity and fuck me pretty bad. good call on that one asshat.

And the chances of this happening...asshat?

You have your birth certificate, right? You have your credit card numbers and accounts, right? You know how to check your balances and your credit report to see if anyone has been making unauthorized purchases or attempting to gain another credit card, right? You have fraud protection, right?

So keep on worrying. The chances you're going to get hit in the first place are very slim, but even if you do, as long as you're not a dolt and keep track of your finances you'll be fine.

Do you know your odds of getting chosen out of 24million people? Not good.

So hold up the gravy train Mr. pissy pants - its nothing to worry about.

you talk a big game for someone who's personal info wasn't possibly stolen...

i'm pretty sure if you were in his shoes you might show some concern as well

i'm not extremely concerned. just irritated that shit like this happens. yes, the odds are slim. but it's the possibility behind it all. that lack or responsibility and accountability. it doesn't bother me so much that MY information was stolen. just the fact that it happened does bother me.

You guys remember when XX million accounts were put at risk recently for mastercard? Well 80,000 of those numbers were actually stolen.

MIne was one of those 80,000.

Did any of my money or anything get charged to my account?

no. Doubtful, you'll be one of those people.

The only reason say looks like I'm fucked, etc. etc. , is because they want sympathy from someone else. Who gives.

...that was the citibank/mastercard thing, correct?

I was a part of that as well.

I have my mastercard through citibank/citicard and it was stolen last year. So I think we're talking about the same incident.
