Hi
I have a problem with my 2000 Civic DX, when I shift out of "Park" its pretty stiff, but when I do it again (from Park) its smooth? I was wondering if any one had any ideas what it can be?

Thanks

This might be a dumb question but do you park on a hill or slight incline?

If so put the e-brake on first then into park.

yep, that too, my Jeeps shifter will be stiff and kind of bang into gear any time I park it in my driveway since it's a steep incline and the ebrake doesn't work.

Same with my moms windstar...... dumb question but hey you never know.

Also check to make sure nothing is blocking the shifter from inside the case.

Thanks for all the quick replies.

THe fliud is up but I was gonna change it anyways (100,000km). I looked at the linkages and seen nothing out of the ordinary.

it may be the linkage, it's not gonna look out of the ordinary, may just need a little adjusting.

But honestly, even my 07 is a little stiff sometimes.

Are you really 81?

Do you live in colder temperatures? Perhaps the fluid is cold.

Let us know if a transmission fluid change helps any. It's recommended between 60,000-100,000 miles anyway.

I haven't bought the fluid yet, I'm gonna grab some synthenic mobile 1 or some other quality brand (have to treat my car good).

Ok I just letting everyone know that the fluid change worked ....
Thats for all the helpful hints.

no problem.

lame your completely ignoring the question of age..................
