I just bought a mint 1988 Prelude (yellow) with 120,000 miles on it. I am not auto knowledgeable but always loved the car and had to buy it when I saw it. Previous owner said that the timing belt was last changed at around 80,000 miles. Is this something I should change ? how long do timing belts last ? What other things should I look into to make sure its running smooth. Seems to drive just great .What type of performance parts or upgrades could I add (not expensive) that would improve the performance.. Also where can I go to look for interior parts that would improve the look ?
Thanks for any help

NICE MAN! I wish I could find a 3rd gen around my area for a decent price.... the is still a decent availability of performance upgrades for you prelude... carbon fiber hoods..... engine mods... so on and so forth... message me if you have any problems finding something!

Timing belts are typically changed around 90,000 miles, so you'll be good for quite a while there. It seems like the previous owner did a good job with maintenance...

Thanks guys. I can not believe how tight the handleing is on the car. It needs new tires, radio could use upgrade, though it has 6 disc cd changer.
As far as performance upgrades I am just looking to do small stuff till next spring, then I want to get body worked on and repainted. Paint has faded a bit and some small rust spots, other than that its really has so far exceeded my expectations.I have been looking for curves just to drive em...;)
