Bit uneasy about car decision

I love the 2007 Outback I bought...it's got plenty of pep, it's got the high class look, I can load anything in it, toss a canoe on top, go anywhere with the AWD, and it gets decent gas mileage. 23-28. Plus toss some mint sport wheels on it, and your set.

I wish the wife would let me toss some volk's on her's...

I'm looking for another subaru right now. I'll prolly snag an 00-03 outback just for a DD.

I honestly thought about an unmolested '06 WRX. Mine was quite a good experience but had become too modified for my sort of mileage and didn't provide the smoother, quieter ride that I was looking for nor did it exude a professional presence.

Back seats a must?

Not an absolute must but the car would have to be something I really fell in love with to go the completely impractical route. Something that when I have two clients that I need to take out to the golf course or lunch that they understood we won't be taking my car.

I thought of a Pontiac Solstice GXP. There's one parked at my work almost daily.

e36

You know, I've liked the slk 250 since it came out. I would imagine its horrible in the snow, its missing a 6th gear since its older, and I don't know how much power it will have but that would definitely be something fun.

e36 is code for which years?

I've heard of a guy who absolutely hates his '02 and has had tons of problems with the car. Apparently there are a ton of known issues with the '02.

I'm surprised this thread has gotten so much attention. Haven't even finished reading every post.

For the record, my mileage is reimbursed at the government rate of $.585/mile so currently I out of pocket about $300-$400 a month for gas, which includes my 88mile round trip to work. The reimbursement covers most of the gas expense but then you have to factor in the wear and tear on the car, the maintenance, and the depreciation. This is why I'm not going to go splurge and buy a $40k car.
my car is a 99, but the E36 M3 ranges from 95 (3.0L OBD1) 96-99 (3.2L OBD2)
I am right on track with you and the milage, i usually spend about $500 a month on gas mixed of work/pleasure/etc and other than regular maintenance it has been nothing but a wonderful car to get in and drive everyday

sick sick car, too bad he just totaled it!

Jesus...44 miles just to get to the office? I have a 40 mile round trip commute and I'm seriously considering moving closer to where I work...

If you like making money, you're willing to put in the time and effort to go to a well paying job.

I wouldn't be making this money anywhere else at age 22.

Can you sell cars?

I could sell anything.

At 22, being the new guy at a car dealership, I wouldn't make $75k (target of 85.5k), get a 3.5% 401k match, stock at a 10% discount from average market value and full benefits.

There's other occupations out there that make plenty of money, I certainly am not disputing that fact. In fact, I would have preferred if I had gotten my act straight when I was 14 yrs old and had prepared for med. school.

As is very few people with my degree will touch this sort of money first year out. If I was successful doing the financial advisor thing I interned at I wouldn't have made this much the first year out but by the 5th year I would be making 120kish.

My target for where ever I work is to hit 6 figures within 3 years from the time I graduated.

maybe i missed it but what are you selling?

Im in the commercial insurance field and I love it, well love the fact that there is no bs with wages, I make what I work for and there is tons of opportunity and job security is bad ass, i mean the industry isnt going anywhere and my position is pretty much always in demand

there's an acura nsx for sale about 15 miles from me for 28,900.. red convertable with tan interior.. sweet looking ride, chicks won't care if you're still at home and make as much money as you do =)
