B16 in 92 EG si wiring questions HELP!!

I am about to do a swap (the weekend of 4/11-4/12) and need some advise on wiring. I have been searching and searching for info

My si has an LS swap in it (since '98) and I'm switching to a JDM B16 Complete swap. My car is wired for VTEC but need to know about the Knock Sensor and what the hell are IAB's?

I THINK that the knock sensor goes to D3 on the ECU (wanting to run the JDM B16 ECU not a chipped one that needs to be tuned) and its red/yellow.....I think. What about actually plugging it into the clip that plugs into the ECU?? Re-pinning tool works for the wiring? Where to get them? I was told most electronic stores but Radio Shack said they don't carry any.

ANY help would be apprieciated

You do not need to worry about I(ntake)A(ir)B(ypass)'s, B16A's don't have them, GSR B18C's have them.

D3 is correct, see pinouts in reference section. You can use a jewelers flat tip screw driver, or a sharpened paper clip to remove them, this is also covered in the reference section, as well as the wire colors.
 
Thanks a ton! I will look into it. When I went to the search engine, on this site, with OBD1 knock sensor issues, I would get an array of topics that didn't cover what I needed. I must have been in the wrong section but I will look into your suggested links.

Do you know if my LS header matches up with the B16? No big deal but if not, I'll run the stock ex. manifold for now. I spent enough on all the OEM maintence parts (timing belt, water pump, seals, cap/rotor, plugs, etc)

Any idea about locating the pins at a store for the knock sensor? I'm hoping and easy find. And that should be my only wiring needed in my si....at least from what I've been told.

Thanks for your help and the pictures!!Any knowledge about the Physical differences in my B16A cams vs. ITR and CTR cams? I am looking into those in the near future. Do you think it would give decent hp gains now or would it be better to do the LS bottom end (I plan on doing both in the next year or so)

I don't want to put the cart before the horse and I know my swap is first and foremost but any info would be great. I have read and it seems like type R cams are a nice set up with the type R valve springs. Seems like you can rev at least a few RPM's more but not sure if the motor with still produce power up to those high RPM's or if it would simply plateau and be a waste of money
 
What I meant by "physical difference in the cams" is are their characteristics of type R cams so I would know that I'm not getting ripped off when I buy them.
 
PLEASE HELP with some info

I need to know the engine harness plug (top/middle/bottom) that the knock sensor is wired to and what the color is for a B16 knock sensor ( I think red/blue)

I'm pre-wired for VTEC and I believe all I need is to run the knock sensor but I want to do it clean and through the harness

Doing the swap this weekend and any info would be appreciated

Perplexed

I found (online) that the plug is the bottom plug on the passenger side. Its the ten pin plug. ( C102, the bottom plug, 10 pin gray plug, Pin #10, red/blue wire) Can anyone Confirm or Deny???? Please help. I know I can chop it off a little past the sensor and just crimp a wire to it and run to D3 on the ECU but I was hoping to avoid that.

You dont need to use a knock sensor just chip the JDM ECU and have the knock sensor disabled. If your car is already wired for Vtec and already has a B18 in it then its a plug and play swap. Just remove B18 and ECU and put in B16 and ECU done!
 
Thanks for the info on chipping i the ECU. I knew I could do the SOHC si VTEC motor but didn't know I could do the B16 p30.
 
Not SOHC VTEC MOTOR....I meant the ECU...not motor
