Is there a phone with a bottle opener? I've scratched up my Env2 opening beer bottles. Hey, if they can put them in flipflops and belt buckles, why not a phone? :)

It's pretty simple... They release a new iPhone once a year... If they plan to support Verizon the new one will support CDMA, heeeey.
Well, hopefully if they did do this (which I doubt they would); hope they don't remove functionality like they did on my Black Berry world edition to support both CMDA and GSM bands, i have no camera. :(

The old Razor made a good bottle opener!

i think they make keychains with those on them

Yeah I seen those, but I already have a lot of crap on my keychain(well, like 10 keys and a bunch of those cards).

I thought Verizon was CDMA only and not GSM. Isn't the iPhone GSM?

That's why they're making the next one with a Qualcomm CDMA-compatible chip, to make the next one Verizon friendly should things go good. I think it's just a forward-looking move, not evidence of a Verizon iPhone.

Verizon plan on going GSM or some other technology at all? Maybe even hybrid...that would be nice.

no verizon is not going GSM... they are currently working on their LTE network... no sense moving to GSM if you are planning to move beyond the capabilities of GSM in the near future

LTE is the 4th gen network standard that most carriers are going to be moving to... Verizon completed its first round of data call testing in august 2009, rollout starts in 2010 and is planned for completion by the end of 2013

Verizon Wireless Updates Specifications For 4G LTE 700 MHz Devices
Verizon Wireless plans to launch its 4G LTE wireless network in 25 to 30 markets next year and cover virtually all of its current nationwide 3G footprint with the next-generation network by the end of 2013. The company’s 4G LTE network will ultimately connect a full range of electronics devices and machines.

that quote was from 12/21/2009 ... if you bothered to click it you would have seen that.... so "next year" is actually 2010... specifically they are shooting for second half 2010

so its at least 6 months away.... provided that you are in one of the 25-30 markets they will be dropping it in... and you feel like being a guinea pig for a new format

Lol, I did read it. I could've sworn I saw January somewhere. Oh well, probably just another hallucination.

If I switched to Verizon or had to go with them I would still pick the Pre over a Android phone. Droid or Nexus One either way.

I am pretty pumped to see Sprint and Verizon roll out their new standards however.

You gonna get the Palm Pre Plus?

Probably not. I am happy with Sprint. I get a good deal and great service where I am at. And one of the best things about Palm thus far is the fact I have not had to pay for a software update. For instance I will be getting video recording and Flash 10 support next month for nothing. With Apple you have to either buy a new handset or pay a fee. I know that isn't always the case but Apple enjoys getting you over the barrel and I just won't do business with them. And Google scares the shit out of me more than Apple or Microsoft. Compition is good, but Google either buys everyone out or forces them out by releasing a product for free. How do you compete with that?

As someone who owned an iPhone from the beginning and now owns a nexus one, I can say that if you have both phones on your network there is no reason at all to get the iPhone. I loved my iPhone but this thing is better in every way imaginable.

Verizon is getting the iPhone? I know the economy is bad but does Verizon really need to cut the quality of their phones by that much?
