haha, the car is so damn light that it started teetering on the jackstands when we were putting the engine in, so we had to throw a 5 gallon bucket of silicon sealant and a bag of concrete to counter the weight. it was almost disasterous.
haha dude, after i put the engine in, i looked at how close the frame rail is to the alternator pulley. if it had to be an inch longer, it would rub on the frame for sure. im kind of glad i didnt put the supercharger in!! but i still want some ITB's.
I've always seen ITB's to be a tuning nightmare but my perception comes from asking guys that have them at the race track. But the bugs can always be worked out. Just not sure if its all worth it in the end. You already have a top end ready to rev pretty high. I say bigger injectors and (obviously) a nice pump on the type R IM will be pretty sweet. Some cam gears, maybe a toda replica header and a ECU tune/dyno. I know you want to track race it and I figure you want a solid set up as you stay between 5-9K all day long at the track. then you can sell the cams (to me cuz I'm looking) and put some other ones on it....yes...do that fo' sho' lmao
i would assuem that you can find a good deal in the twm itbs used as all the A/M drag race guys are now switching to kinsler units because they make way more power then the old twm's If you cant find some used twms you can probaly get buy with the obx units but they suck the linkage falls apart or comes lose and out of adujstment. i have even know of one case that the throtle plate screws came out of one of the blades and went thru the motor. that was not prety on a 14:1 N/A monster with huge domes on the piston.
from what ive heard the twm throttle bodies are prone to the throttle sticking open. the obx itb's are exact replicas of the toda itb setup and i really like the design of toda but im not paying 2300 for them. obx even uses the same components that the toda uses but the casting for the runners are different. thats probably why the plate screws came out. bad/soft tapping in the cast. i dont know, i am still weighing my options.
All ITB's remind me of is old school hot rods with multiple carbs. One throttle cable stretches more then another and you're out of tune. More parts to go bad and with a carb'd set up (which you dont have) they go out of tune real easy in diffferent climates/elevations.
I will admit that ITB look really sweet and obviously different but if this is a track car.....not my cup of tea. I think you got a sweet ass set up that will rip for sure no matter what direction you take. If you plan on showing the car ITB's would be pretty nice. But for the "go" factor, there are other ways to spend that money and get better results.
