i haven't rode my 2006 gsxr 1000 for almost 2 yrs...and i havent even started it to be honest...so i just wanted to know before i put a new battery in it, and besides new oil and new gas...what else shiuld be done so i dont ruin anything...thanks...

well, you wont ruin much on those things.

just be sure to check your tires. DO NOT RIDE without checking air pressure first. also check your tred and for dry tire cracks.

oil the chain up too. check to make sure your lights all work.

lol...sounds cool...so just by drainig oil flushing it and putting new oil and filter...then should i drain the gas just in case if there was moisture build up???how about the coolant???

also would i have to re-program my power commander and get it re-mapped since the battery died, or is that stay programmed through the 2 yrs???just curious...thanks again...

you can drain the gas, i would probably just fill up the tank though and mix it up a little bit.

i don't think your power commander will need remapped. it should be fine. and the coolant is probably fine too. it just depends on if you want to go all out, if you want to be extra meticulous, you could do the brake fluid too.

I would change the coolant. Coolant turns acidic over time. 2 years is actually the exact point I would change it out at...

cool i changed the coolant out just to be on the safe side of things...and u think if i was to add a gallon of gas or 2 it would be fine...

you NEED to drain the gas if it's been sitting up for 2 years.

Mixing it will NOT work.

Drain and flush it, add some injector cleaner/octane booster, and flush out the fuel lines and injectors as well.

You shouldn't need to remap the power commander, however you should flush the coolant (not just drain and fill, but actually flush) as well. If it's really been sitting for 2 years without even being turned over, it wouldn't hurt to pull the thermostat and clean it.

Another thing that wouldn't hurt, and will only cost a couplea bucks, is to go ahead and throw some new plugs in it.

Once again, YOU NEED TO DRAIN THE TANK AND PUT NEW GAS IN.

didja get that?
