Hey guys i need some advice as to what to do and how to proceed. A friend told me i could come here and get some sound advice to my current problem. I have a 1990 Honda Civic Hatchback with a 1996 SOHC ZC inside. The ECU is a PM7 but the wiring has been giving me some trouble lately. It was my plan to simply buy a new harness/wireloom and rewire the car but that is proving impossible to get or maybe its due to my geographic location i dunno. What my electrician is suggesting is using another harness and cutting and replacing the ends with the new harness but i'm not particularly fond of simply cutting the connectors and replacing them especially for long term usage.

One thought was to upgrade the ECU as i have a P76 and a complete harness along with the dizzy that goes with it and was told that could do the trick but i'm not so sure the P76 ECU is even working considering i've had it in storage for so long and it was apparently exposed to water at one point. I was told if it is working i could simply buy a new throttle body with the parts i already have and wire it using that.

I'm looking for advice or suggestions as to possible routes i could take as these old parts are really hard to find.

Was thinking to swap for a b16 but sadly i cannot find even that atm.

So please suggestions and advice. Plz and thx

what is hacked up? your engine harness? no matter which ECU you run, you need to use the engine harness that was originally on the car - if the car was originally DPFI and now has a MPFI engine, the original DPFI harness must have been converted to MPFI - you cannot use an OBD1 engine harness in the OBD0 car that has the original chassis harness

from what i understand the wires on the original harness are breaking all over slowly and causing electrical shorts. that is the reason to change the harness in the first place. i wanna know if i should simply cut the connectors off the original harness and place them on another harness, one that is in much better condition or should i use the P76 ECU and the harness that with it which may not work because i've had that P76 in storage for a long ass time and it was exposed to water at one point without my noticing

i got a 1990 si hatch bro nd i just swapd a 1999 gsr into it nd i have a p28 and tuned the ecu! but i had to do the whole harness on it but is worth it my syt runs nice
