Still alive. Working myself to death with 60-70 hour weeks. I have no time to do anything. Purchased a $188,000 4 bed 3 bath brick house with a two car garage (already converted to a pretty mean shop) on an acre, (amazing what 188k can buy in Texas!)

Bought a cherry little silver RSX-S, still have the CRX, Sold the 1000rr and the element, bought a john deere tractor

Gained an instant teenager kit from my sister (He was being a little shit and got kicked out so I took him in, he's is pretty straight these days, turning into a good kid pretty quick)

Mrs. Phyre is doing well.. We're working on cranking out another pair of kiddos. Not pregnant yet, just a plan.. Still doing the Dave Ramsey financial thing. Debt free except the house!

Thats about it! :rimshot:

3 kids! Two of my own (best kids on the planet) and a teenager. He's 16 so he's here for at least 2 more years.

Wife is a mythical being.. I get glances of her here and there. I could try to get a pic but it'd be a blur of her flying by!

I'm doing pretty well except for the time thing. Proud to finally have my family in a nice house! That was so far overdue.. Went from 1100 square foot 2 bed 1 bath to 2700+. We can breathe!! Now all I need to do is figure out how to cut my time at work down to a more reasonable 40 or 50 hours...

Getting the bug again.. I look longingly at the CRX.. Something shall come about.. Some day..

so what are you doing for work now?
last i knew you were driving a pepsi truck right?
still working that gig for all its worth or you got something new?

def get that work time down, you're missing too much of life, and you don;t get a redo

financial plan
he's got 7 baby steps

if i recall correctly phyregod was about asshole deep with debts (cars bikes etc) and things and living in a rental etc
and he changed his whole shit up and paid off debt and got on his feet and bought a house

here's the gist or it...
not sure if this method was the same when our TX buddy started it

Still doing the Pepsi gig. Pepsi bought out the independent bottlers I worked for and I now work directly for Pepsi. Few more bucks an hour, more hours than you would ever want and you work like a freaking slave. 3 day weekends are gone, and I now work weekends as well. I average about 11 tons of stuff a day now. This is all handled by hand three times by the end of the day. Pallet to dolly, dolly to staging area, staging area to back stock/shelves/wherever. I'm in damn good physical shape now, though.. I think I could run a marathon and tackle a house off of its foundation at the end.

And yes, that is the Dave Ramsey thing. ^^^ Good stuff. Some people call him crazy, but he got me out of the crapper. Its all common sense and credit hate. You'd be amazed at how much money you have if you pay cash for everything. Its all cheaper up front and you have no interest, no payments, no leash, no master to serve. Took a few years but I went from i think it was 23 credit cards to 0. 2 car payments and a bike payment to 0. I don't have to wait for my pay check to arrive to make the bills... I just have the money. Its a completely different life financially. No, I don't eat out often.. I don't drive a brand new car.. but I don't owe anyone any money except for the house, which I am hammering on. Its a good feeling. I would very highly recommend his financial peace university course to anyone looking to take control of their finances. Its not an instant win, it isn't a magical fix, its just hard work and common sense. The way it should be.

one thing to consider is a cash back or rewards card.
instead of taking the cash out of your pocket at a register, you take it out at the end of the day and put it in a jar to cover the receipts in your pocket

then when the monthly bill comes, you have all the money on hand to pay it before it even arrives in the mail. plus you get your rewards or cash back, so you pay them no interest plus you get something for using their credit for the month

i have a cheesy disney card that i use for my normal monthly shit and it pays for my disney ticket when i go every year or every other year. the inlaws belong to the vacation club thing so the stay is paid for, i just have to worry about splitting gas and food (since we have the grand villas with full kitchen etc)
so for example... i've got 450 disney dollars since the last time i went to actual disney may of 09, (its only 1%) so i ran 45k through a credit card in 2 years and got $450 back without paying a cent of fees or interest. we went away last year but that was just to disney's hilton head where i got engaged.

Its like playing with fire. You can get your 1%. But if you decide not to pay it off in full at the end of the month for whatever reason, or your payment gets lost, delayed, whatever.. you get hit with 9% or 18% or whatever insane rate they feel like charging.

Its also easier to swipe a card for an item you want. You might not have purchased certain things if you were shelling out actual cash for it. Just like playing with chips in a casino. People wouldn't bet nearly as much if they were betting with actual cash. But its easy to toss out a chip. You may be spending more than you would have in the first place.

$45,000 worth of financial fire juggling for $450 is too much work for too little cash. Keep your money simple.

its safer to not have cash on hand
credit cards are replaced if lost, not so with cash
i pay my bills online as soon as the statement wraps, about 20-25 days before the payment is due and before i even receive the statement in the mail
it all depends on your life style i guess?
i would use the CC to pay for everything anyway regardless if i were getting rewards or not
i'm going on 13 years with a CC with not one late payment or interest charge
to me its not really juggling because its how i would be running my shit either way

but with all that said,
those 7 steps weren't designed for people who don't carry debt to begin with
so to each their own
the plan definitely helped you out so i'm not knocking it

I met Dave Ramsey once, briefly. He was the keynote speaker for the partnership dinner at the college where I work. Nice guy...

I straight up love my credit cards. I've gotten thousands back on my discover card over the years.

Discover is up to 5% cash back.

On top of that I treat them as cash, if I don't have the cash then I don't spend on the card.

I just can't figure out how some people can't hold back on spending.
Makes me wonder if those same people were handed a gun, would they start shooting random things just because they have it.
