bringing the CRX back to the track build/thread

this is a track only car. dont need the latch. plus ive heard of track techs having problems opening a hood after a crash because the stock latch got jammed.

E, this is a VIS carbon fiber hood. i believe the webbing structure on the underside is fiberglass though. the bottom of the skin just looks white from the dust when cutting the webbing out.

The roll bar being welded in will tweak the whole car so align it last too.

Awesome to see you back on track with your build!

That hood is sweet as hell, great job with the cutting.

Are you going to get those corbeaus ? I couldnt see if they are deff. fia approved or not but they do have 5/6 point.

Im known on honda-tech and answered you there.

yea, even if they arent its ok, i just want some cheap seats that will work with the harness. these will do just fine i think. i havent bought them yet though.

i finished mounting the hood/pins. it really was a pain to get everything lined up. you have very little room for error as the holes you cut in the hood are so big, so i was pretty meticulous. i wrapped up the suspension and threw the wheels on and lowered it down. ride height came out pretty close based on my previous measurements so im not going to touch it before corner balancing, ill let them sort it out. im just glad its not way off. i hooked the battery back up, charged it and cranked her up for the first time in like 9 months lol. ran great once i got it started :)

vid of hoodpin action and first startup. on fb, sorry. if you are friends with B, you should be able to see it since i marked it friends of friends.

once i get the gf's broken down car out from in front of my garage, i can get it down to the shop at work to patch up some rust spots and get it ready for a quicky paint job. then saving a bit to finish seats/cage/harness then corner balance/alignment wheel balance and its off to the track!

been busy. money's low after my vacation lol. need to start working more hours to catch up.

the car is essentially blocked into the garage though. Jamie's old car is sitting broken infront of the door blocking the exit. once we get that pile out of the way, im gonna take the crx down to the shop at work and my friend is going to help me patch up some rust. then im going to tape up shit i dont want painted, and take it over to maaco.

i know ive been slacking. but i have a few things to update.

car is still blocked in the garage :(. my gf's parents are looking for the title so we can get rid of it.

i got an emissions notice. im MD its every 2 years, and i just had it done last year. but i guess they go by the due date and not the inspection date, i had it extended for like a year because i had the car out of state. so that means that i have to put the cat BACK ON and go get it tested again. a little annoyance.

i also got some dry ice and ripped out all the tar from the floor. still need to clean up the residue, but the bulk of the tar is gone. hopefully cleans up well.

and lastly, the wiring on my car is pretty bad at this point. the previous owner did a lot of stuff half assed. he just chopped off the ECU plugs and manually wired up the OBD1 plugs. plus with my additions over the years, its not nice anymore. so im starting over. i have a guy from h-t making me a custom tucked engine harness.

the harness will be just the engine harness from the engine to the ecu with a firewall quick disconnect. then near the ecu there will be a custom plug addedfor all the signals that need to go to somewhere else on the car (like VSS, Tach, etc). im going to rip out all the wiring and rewire the chassis myself. this will give me a chance to put in a switch panel, start button, master cutoff switch, and remove all the other unneeded shit. then ill have nice clean wiring :)

so the harness will be something like this:

heres some pics that the harness builder has sent me (he just started yesterday)

ive told him to give some more slack on the plug connections, but so far so good :)

Thats awesome! Who is doing it for you and what do they charge, PM me if you dont mind?

I really want a simplified harness for my car and RYWIRE is awesome but too much money.
