Yep, about 2 months ago I've decided to join the marines.
One of the first thing a recruiter does is that he hands you about 13 or 15 little badges and asks you to arrange them in importance. My top 4 were:
1) Self-Dicipline, Self-Direction, Self-Reliance
2) Challenge
3) Physical Fitness
4) Pride of Belonging
I still have to go to MEPS (hopefully next month), and get processed but I'm trying to get into better shape.
I'm Going into the reserves and if I really like it I was told I can activate myself and versus the (1 week & 1 month) deal I can go for 6 months and come back. I want to keep my job and civilian life here but that may change.
I'm not joining for the money, the benefits are useful but is also not the reason. I actually want discipline in my life, I want the pride of being a marine, and I'm going into the marines aiming for LAV Crewman, but after I get in and after about 6 months to a year, I really want to be into Reconnaissance, truly a Scout Sniper. So once I get in I'm going to train my ass off in hope of being Physically (and mentally) fit enough and switch over to active and go for it!
I go on runs everyday, I finally got my breathing good for when I run because before I would take too short of steps and I would also breath short fast breaths through my mouth. Now I make sure its Deep and steady breaths through my nose (or inhale through my nose and exhale through my mouth).
i keep looking for advice and tips for better techniques.
I'm not in great shape by any means but i want to be!
I can do 73 crunches in 2 mintues, 10 pull ups, and The one run I did was a 1.5 mile in 13:40. I know that its simple stuff and this has nothing to do with most of the stuff you have to do in basic but i want to do better! My goal is 100 to 110 crunches in 2 minutes, 20 pull-ups, and I would honestly love to be around 11 minutes to 11:30 as far as the 1.5 mile goes.
My estimated "ship" date is around March, but I won't know exactly until I go to MEPS. So this gives me plenty of time to work my ass off.
Just felt like sharing with you guys. ^_^
