i am getting further and further away from civilization with my hunting trips now days so i have been looking into spending a little coin on a GOOD cooler. I have been looking at yettis, pelican, engel, icey tek, and grizzlys. costco has 150qt grizzly right now for $379 which is a pretty good deal. does anyone have first hand experience?

My experience is that the all styrofoam ones are typically the best insulating. Doesn't really help you though because I think you're probably looking for something with more durability.

People I've talked to who are actually into coolers (wha?) seem to like the Yeti. I like mine with 12V batteries and custom stereos built in.

A bunch of people over on arfcom seem to love the yeti
The latches and hinges look pretty robust on the pelican
If it matters for you i belive the yeti is bear certified with a padlock installed

Everything i mentioned is bear proof with locks but its not a huge selling point for me. I like the yettis to but they seem to run about 10% more then the other brands

That's interesting. I could buy 5 of those colemans for the price of the engel and actually get a bigger cooler. It seemed like there was still allot of ice in that thing at the end
