I will finally be taking the engine from my friends gsr this weekend, to put in my civic. He smashed the car just under 2 years ago and it has been sitting in his driveway since. When he brought the car there after the accident it ran perfectly still, but has not been started in just under 2 years. i am going to go over there to get it started this weekend, any advice on starting an engine that has been sitting that long? what are the chances that it will actually start up rigth away?

As a little added insurance, pull the plugs and squirt some WD-40 into the cylinders. Rotate the engine by hand (with the plugs out) a few turns, slap the plugs in it, and fire it up.

i just did this i put just a little bit of motor oil in the cylinders through the plug holes and it started right up smokes a lot for a min. but it cleared up quick just dont put too much

This is my strategy when i am in this situation, don't put much in. I usually put a cap full in each cylinder.

I'd change the oil, put a couple drops in each cylinder, leave the plug wires off, turn the engine over for a little bit to build some oil pressure because its probably a little dry, then put the plugs back in, wires back on and fire it up.
