ok, now for the questions, do I need the chip burner to write files and maps to the chip, or can I do that with the datalogging kit, as money is always an issue and any money saved is good. Thanks in advance.

You need the burner to write the program to the chip. The datalogger just tells you what your engine is doing. You are also going to need a wideband o2 for proper tuning.

ok thanks bro, would that cut if for a turbo setup or would I need extra parts for the MAP sensor to not put me into limp mode?

skimp on the burn1 and just get an ostrich. its battery lasts like 30 years or some shit, so you can just leave it in the car if you want. you can always burn from it later. But tuning without a romulator is a huge pain in the ass (every time you make an adjustment, you need to re-burn a chip) and will cost a fortune in chips.

the wideband o2 is a must ( i like the lm-1 Products for DIY ECU Enthusiasts who want to save money and do it right. TurboEdit, Uberdata and Crome supported here at Xenocron.com )
and an EGT is a 'plus' especially if you are turbo.

having the ostrich is good for tuning as you can make changes on the fly but burn a chip when youre done. ive heard many stories of the ostrich causing errors when left hooked up as a chip.

ostrich is the way to go much easier than burning chips and u could always use a chip burner when done tuning so u dont have to leave the ostrich in the car but ive had one on my car for about a year now with no problems
