whats up. just need advice on front struts for my car, i bought it cheap bc it was in an acident and got the body work done and thought i needed struts from the way it drove, but i jacked it up and the right strut seemed fine and the baljoints and everything but the left tirod was messed up, i replaced it but the car still drives horible in the front, the rear is fine, i want some advice as for good replacements for the front without requireing alerations to the rear, i was going to slowly modify my car completly but i found out i need to pas inspection within 10 days of registration and i registered it but the car came with inspection sticker good till september but i need to pass one next week. also the engine is good up to 20 but takes forever to 60, and i can tell the transmision needs work or replacement but it doesnt seem to bad, i had a leak in the exhaust but fixed it but it still loud just not as loud, and with the cars lack of power i feel like the exhaust is choking the engine and not working proper. just need tons of help, will put pics up soon and planing on having a new transmision, suspension, rims, exhaust and system by september but planing on an engine swap by jan of 08 so want to keep al my goals in mind with current alterations so they wont cause problems later on.

sorry its complicated to follow, it is struts i think

what i meant by it drives horible, i meant the struts drive horrible, i drive my dads car and u dont feel manhole covers, in the civic i can hear thumps in the tire wels from the suspension and it feels bad.

the struts are years old and came with the car when i bought it, the rear ones are fine, but the front is very loud and unsable when i go over bumps. i supose it is possile it isnt the struts but i believe it is. and from what i know at a shop when you replace struts that means you replace the spring and the shock absorber, i dont have the tools to replace the strut. ( the thing that compresses the spring) so my friends shop will do it free labor, i just need to buy the struts

im pretty sure its the struts (which usualy consisto of a spring and a shock absorber) they are loud and not smoth in the front the rear are fine. these came with the car whch was probably a reck the driver door was originaly red and painted, as for rims and tires, the rins are standard 94civic rims with the hubcaps, the tires are all the same size but all different threads and all bald except for the fulsize in the back, the steel in he tire on the front left is comming though the rubber, but that is probably from the tirod, but i replaced that. this car was probably pieced together from junkyard scraps.

What does your dad drive?

yea, but what should i buy for parts, because i would like to wait to save up and buy a whole new set, but the rear are fine and i probaby need new front to pass inspection. so i want to upgrade to a good one in the front so that i can just buy the rear 2 later on and put them in. and u said 90 for the labor ??? where is that i never hear of that and theres no lesschab near me, at willets point, (a collection of junkyards, body shops and garages in a 6 block radius near mets stadium in queens) the cheapest i could get was 200 labor for al four and 100 for the front, they said 65 each strut but with generic economy strut, sping combo replacement for 94 civic. i plan on buying my own parts and paying for labor, because the tool rental would be about 40$ anyways and wouldrather take it to a mechanic so while i am there he can look at my brakes. my brakes are bad at stoping they just suck but the pads are god, it may be the rotors but they look okay and the brake fluid is good.

as for what my dad drives i was refering to his pos 2002 chevi cavelier, but the point in that was i feel the 8 year age difference in the way his car drives. my civic just needs some replacements.

heres some pics of the car, i bought a new hood, bumper and right waurter panel, and put it on and had the parts painted. i didnt take pics of it with the work done yet, i have it in my grandmothers driveway in queens. from what i can tell the car was totaled and was put together from junk yard scraps, having 4 different tires with diff threads that are all bald and the driver door seems to have originaly been red and than repainted. it looks like it was crushed like a cocke can and they fixed he frame up with a slide hammer.
