I'm pretty sure you've got a b18a1. Regardless, it redlines at 6500 RPM. Don't bother rebuilding, its not worth the money and you don't seem to have the know-how anyways.
Your local auto wrecker should have an abundance of b18a motors laying around. They're pretty common, considering they were standard in the majority of 90-93 integras. Go call around.

If your civic is a dx, you have to make the switch from dual point injection to multipoint injection in order to run a b-series motor. part of this swap involves altering your distributor wiring. refer to the write-up in the swap article section.
