it sounds like your are getting power to the wrong place. i dont know how you did your wiring, but that is the mail culprit. retrace all wires, use proper diagrams, and a continuity tester is always helpful.

OBD1 or OBD2 will wire into this car PLUG AND PLAY as long as you have the engine harness AND the ECU harness. chances are your motor is obd1 in this case you will have a 2 part harness. ek b16 are the only harnesses that are single piece hanesses.

i agree, post a pic of your "jdm rpm guage"... you know after you said that every one is going to give you crap... which ever car apples, find the rpm signal wire (all hondas are wired for a tach). On your tach (green is rpm signal)(black is ground)(red is power)(you may have a second power...

i agree, check your clips. then your clutch pedal/slave/master cylinder. you may also have the cables backwards(i dunno if its even possible)
