i was told the only way to run my turbo on a stock 2001 honda prelude engine is to get a new ecu chip programed? turbonetcs told me that the kit is made for a stock engine. im confused

on my 2001 prelude i have a turbonetics kit(not sure of the model or anything) and i cant give it more than half throttle or the car starts to cut out.. i think that my wastegate might have something to do with this because i should be able to lay it to the floor... any help for me??
