man ive done the exact same thing trying to run through a tach. found same result . I ended up ripping my tach. apart then throwing it in the trash.It will not work , get a p-28 I got mine for $75 and it has the proper fuel curve for the d16z6.

the sensor on the back of the intake man. w/ the blue/yellow, yellow/black is your (electric air control valve) the blue/yellow goes to pin# a9 and theyel/blk. goes to a ground or fuel inj. junction on drivers side terminal #5 on a p-28

I have a zc sohc vtec w/ p28 .The zc does not come w/ a vtec press. switch . question is is there anyway to engage vtec w/o the press. switch or does the ecu have to see that switch?
