mine is exceptionally difficult as well.. if you have access to a impact hammer and compressor u can do what i did and just give the axle a quick shot with the air hammer.. popped right out
tried the air hammer, pry bars, all kinds of wedges and forks. what i ended up doing was taking apart the new axle and using the part of the axle stuck on the halfshaft and used a big zip tie to hold the boot secure
