92 GS-R Tranny acting funny

Just over the past few months my tranny is acting funny. When I shift, it would have a hollow metallic sound. On top of that, sometimes when I shift to 3rd gear....you hear the worst noise from the car. (grinding gears) Some of my friends tell me that the sychros are out of whack. If that is true, then how much work am I looking at to just keep the same tranny?

i have a 93 and grinds if you slam into third while driving hard.

i think it's normal for the 92-93 gsr tranny's, at least thats what everyone says it sucks though.

rebuilding the tranny couldn't hurt at all.

third gear synchro is a grind king lol
