this may sound goofy, but how do you guys remove/install the crank pulley bolt without the crank turning on you without using a impact gun

it was still attached to a junk car, forgot to mention that. It wasn't as hard to break though as I read on here. It was farely quite easy.How'd you hold the short block to the ground?
I just did my first Honda timing belt on a B16 motor. Bought the crank holding tool off of ebay for $26 plust $7 shipping. Taking the bolt out was a piece of cake, took two minutes, definitely the way to go. In addition to the tool it required a deep 19 mm (3/4) socket, a 1/2" breaker bar and a regular 1/2" rachet handle. Every other way people talk about holding the engine puts you at risk for busting something. I'd say buy or borrow the tool
a friend of mines stuck a hammer handle wrapped in a towel between one of the rod journals and the block and loosed it with a 5 foot pole for leverage, it worked but the crank broke his hammer suprisingly the rod journal didnt get damaged in any way at all
