How do you figure? They don't offer drivers for Vista, so if you have any older (pre vista) sound cards, you're shit outta luck, and have to buy a Vista ready sound card, that also doesn't work 100% a guy makes drivers that allows people to use any sound blaster card with Vista (while CL says drivers can't be had) and then they shit a brick. F them. Thats like buying a 2008 Civic, only to find out that in 2009 it stops working. Honda says, ohwell, buy a 2009 model, however some guy figures out a way to make it work so you don't have to buy a new car. Honda flips out because it can't sell you a brand new car, even though your old car is in perfect condition. How do you not have a problem with that?
You think that's bad? Try getting the Linux X-Fi drivers to work. I still have that card IN BOX under my desk because they screwed the pooch so bad on that. $60 takes it. Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi PCI soundcard. NOT the Fatal1ty card, sorry Never been used, put in PC once. Everything included.
neat. i have an old SBLive PCI card that worked great with vista using the XP drivers. although, i never really liked creative to begin with.
creative has been promising working vista drivers for a while.. they were the shit on xp, you can get the cheapy value and softmod to their platinum line, but seems like its down the gutters on vista. neway, most newer and nicer boards have great onboard audio and some even come as separate modules. on top of that, some video cards even support hdmi so as far i can tell, it seems like sound cards will be a thing of the past except for a hand ful of people.
