17-year cicada brood to emerge this month

My dad told me that when he was younger there was one spring where there were so many cicadas in the air, one swing with a tennis racket would knock down a dozen from the air. Sounds like one of the 13 and 17 year overlaps mentioned in the article.

ugh, i was afraid this would be the year of the cicada- Turkey hunting is always lots of fun when they're popping out of the ground and climbing all over you while you're trying to sit still
