Got my timing belt on tonight, wayyyy to loose, tensioner cant adjust far enough to tighten it, any ideas ?? the head and block were decked a couple thou during the build, but would that make it this bad ??
Compare the new belt against old one - make sure it's the correct part. Same number of teeth. Decking the block 0.010-0.015 ain't gonna change anything.
Figured out the problem , i was given the wrong timing belt and waterpump off a b18, had 18 or 19 teeth on the pulley, and the belt was to long, got it all sorted out now though, thanks for the help.
^ Excellent! Good case of Troubleshooting 101 here. Always check the obvious first.
Not suggesting you aren't on top of it. Just reciting what I was taught years ago in Electronics shop class. TV doesn't work, it is turned on? Is the fuse good? Does the wall socked have power? Etc.......
