Hey all i trying to figure out what is wrong with my Civic, hoping someone can help me. I have a 93 civic hatch with b16a motor. The problem is when it idles its around 1750-2500 rpms and when driving it will not go over 4000 in any gear. and if it hits 4000 if pops over and over kind of like its hitting a rev limiter. i have been told it could be solenoids, o2 sensor, distributor, tps, or jsut simple oil change for pressure. If somone could point me in the right direction i would be forever thankful.

so it has a CEL right? what is the code? you can read it yourself, im sure its obd1. whatever comes up will point you in the right direction.

everything you need to know about CELs is on this website, do a little research.

so you jumped the connector under the pass side dash and it doesnt blink?

is this a recent thing that just developed or did you just swap the motor or what? the more information you provide the better chance of someone knowing the answer.

motor was swapped about a year and a half ago no problems ever just small oil leak at first.

93 civic si body b16ablock rebuilt all internals b16a tranny limited slip differential stage 2 clutch light weight flywheel dc dual bend short throw typeR head cams everything oversized throttle body intake manifold injectors fuel pressure gauge plugs wires 4 to1 headers full exhaust

happened a few hours after i changed out the distributor, cap ect.

ran fine then just revved up really high while i was driving and the check engine light came on. since then its been having that problem. i am about to change the tps and new oil and filter but i dont think those are the problem

It just revved up all by it self and now you've got a CEL?

If the CEL is on, and you jump the connector then you will get a code. You have to jump it correctly though.

all that it takes is the paper clip loop trick. it doesnt spit out any code. which means it would be code 0 and if the engine still runs that cant be the problem unless the ecu is faulty or a wire is loose but would that even cause the car to have this throttle problem
