B16A W/ LS HEAD

Ok fella's I know it sound crazy but what would this set-up net hp wise.
I got a FREE B16A BLOCK AND A FREE LS HEAD both in good condition.
So until I can buy that vtec head how will this set-up perform.

1 more thing compression wise. What will a ls block bored to 82mm with a b16
vtec head get. What compression will this set-up have with flat top pistons?

maybe 110-120 hp. as for the compression, you'll need to come a little more specific with the pistons.

your compression ratio should be around 9.74:1.

yeah you'll have to get custom pistons for an 82mm bore.

i'm guessing you don't have a b-series tranny yet, so i would suggest you get a vtec head or an ls block before you buy a tranny because the ls head is going to make that b16 block more pathetic than your stock d-series motor. so doing any motor swap would be pointless.

I can't confirm this but one of the shops in Denver tried this. They had some serious problems making the engine run well and in general they said that it was not worth the effort.

Thankyou all for the quick replies and info.
I also have the ls block and need to know.
What would be the max. (safe) bore I could go with.
Also when going with a bigger bore do the pistons have to be a flat top type.
Are there any pop-up pistons which can be used with a larger bore
and the ls head or vtec head.

I wouldn't exceed 81.5mm on the stock sleeves. On aftermarket sleeves you could go as big as 87mm NA .
