I got a free 1999 Alpine CDA-7845 from a buddy. It came in his Integra when he got it, wasn't "flasy" enough so he replaced it with a new Clarion and cut the wires when taking it out. So I fixed it. First I took off the three top cover screws. Then the four screws for the actual CD player of the deck. And I saw this. I need those wires on the left side. What got cut : And this. I found a spare harness from a super old Pioneer deck. The harnesses were identical. I unpluged the cut harness from the inside of the deck. Matched up the wires. Tested the deck with all wires connected. Then soldered, heat shrunk and taped up and you don't even notice I was in there. And thats how I got my free deck today.
nice work. that is an old school Alpine! lol bout the same year as the one that was in my hatch when I got it.
Nice! I got the compact 6 disc shuttle and cord for that deck (changes discs pretty fast). Let me know and I'll sell it to you cheap.
great job. those old school alpines with the external amplifier rock. he replaced it with a clarion? he got the shit end of the deal.
Thank you. Haha I love it! I actually think it looks more proper to have an older, more classic looking deck in an EF. I saw the plug in on the back and it says "AI CD Shuttle Control" on the faceplate which is the Ai-Net system or something? So it should work. Except I found out that people make ipod hook-ups for that port. I would be so damn happy if its true. External amp? It said 4V Preout on the little box. And yeah a flip out screen $400 Clairion. The functions are slow on it and other than playing DVDs its really not that fancy. Plus minimal sound options. I tried to tune in his sub and its garbage.
Ooh.. I'm gonna have to dig up my Alpine deck. It is a generation or two newer than that one but I think it has a port similar to that on the back. If it does + rep. I loved that deck but haven't put it in my gray hatch because of no way to hook up my zune... that I knew of.
Only video before the camera died. The speakers are running off my 300W Pioneer amp. I wish you could actually hear it cause the camera doesn't do justice. YouTube - Old Alpine CDA-7845
Replaced the factory wiring with 14 gauge and ran a 12 gauge wire for the deck right to the battery today. Its super clear now, no static "hissing" sound or anything and very loud lol. My ears are ringing as I'm typing this. I'm going to hide the amp in the rear cargo compartment, may get to it tomorrow.
*UPDATE ! MORE OLD SCHOOL CONTENT !* The buddy who gave me the deck has a girlfriend and she loved his teg, so she got one too and it came with the stock deck and a Alpine CD changer from 1996 ! I installed her new deck and she let me take whatever I wanted.
dude i have the same stereo (well almost) and i touched a couple of the wires by accident when i was hookin it up, now it wont turn on, any ideas? is it fried?
Don't know if I works. It's missing the CD cassette too. Check the fuses. That's about all I can tell you.
