I think most PDs opt for destruction of modified cars has to do with the time it would take to check every part to make sure it is not illegal or stolen. Or they are afraid of the PR and lawsuits that could potentially come along from auctioning a car that ends up being street raced that night and killing someone. I am pulling this out of my ass of course I really don't know why they don't strip and auction but those are possible considerations.

chances are if the car has stolen parts they dont want those parts redistributed, so they crush them .. i dont give a shit either way, i dont street race so my car isnt getting crushed
