Hello Fellow RSX Lovers. I just purchased a 2004 RSX Type S. It runs good ( to me cause It's new to me) but the check engine light is on. It's reading that I have a cylender 4 misfire. I took it to the shop and got an extensive engine diagnostic done. They said It has low compression in my Cylinders. ( Mind you they were not Honda, Acura dealers or technicians and may not know the spec. )I am thinking of getting a new engine. What do you think? (I would rather get one rebuilt). If so, anyone know of any good sites? So recap: New engine, rebuild, or 3rd opinion.

I'd get a 2nd opinion. a misfire can be as simple as a bad spark plug.

Did they do a real compression test with a tester? how about a leakdown test?

I honestly didn't know their were more than one type of compression test. I don't know if they did leakdown test ether. I do recall them changing out the #4 spark plug. They also said it could be the head then suggested what if I get the top end of the engine fixed and then the bottom end start knocking. Made me think a Little. I guess I'll take it to the Acura dealership after all.
Thank you for your advice Briansol.

One basically tests your pistons and piston rings, the other tests your head and makes sure there aren't any pressure leaks there. Find a legit shop, or even a shop that builds race hondas and you should be able to get a good answer.

Thanks Get_nick. I called the Acura dealer today. In Mississippi, my options are limited. Hopefully they will have some good news for me.
