    I believe the new D17 is a SOHC while the old one is DOHC. Could be wrong though

    i know for a fact that the 2001 D17 is SOHC, but i do not know if they changed it for the 2002.

    Yeah he is! The d17 is a newer motor! And All D17's are SOHC's.

    yep, d17a1 and d17a2 are both sohc :(
