i've got cox cable... only complaint is the capped upload speed... i can only upload @ 30k... but i get downloads consistently at 400k.

haha nice avatar

ok cable is way faster than dsl on the download side and you can buy a modem for under 100 and as far as it being slow when it rains that is not true at all i install about 6 of them a day and i do a speed test on every one and ive never seen a drop in speed when it rains and the speeds where im at are 3000down/256up

Downloading 10GB of stuff a day is a wonderful thing.

Wow, that's a lot of porn, Mike.

:p

I'm not a pr0n monger... I just send B links when someone in Oklahoma sends me one.

 it was a good one tho eh :p

I got the cons from my friend. He's using Charter Cable and says that it slows down during the rain and when he tries to call them, they have him on hold for days. Also, on the pricing, theres an astreik that says $5 a month for modem rental is a must unless you purchase one for $xxx.

cable is setup with i think 12 people on a node
everytime someone else logs on the speed goes down
the reason you would see a drop in speed on a rainy day is there are more people sitting around using the internet

:werd: That's all of us on HondaSwap

btw - isn't DSL made through existing phone lines. I'm almost positive with DSL you can surf and talk on the phone at the same time (not sure, currently use roadrunner cable :D)

yes

you are sortof correct on the node thing basically there are about 8000 cable subscribers per node and about 5% of them have data service and about 30% have interactive digital service which will also effect the speeds some what if the are all playing games or reading news/horiscopes or some thing like that on there box but yea i guess the number of people on on rainy days might effect some systems i know that we are constantly spliting nodes due to they become to saturated with interactive users
