it would actually be cheaper to buy a 5th gen mirage and fab it evo style, than to actually import one. check out www.mirageforums.net i cant quite remember the name of the site that does importing and legalization.

the EVO 7 is VERY VERY SIMILAR to the EVO 8... same tail lights, same pretty much everything lol...
ok yeah the wing is different, it has less power restrictions yada yada yada...
if you want an EVO the one to get would be an EVO 6... bad ass fuckin car!!! by far better than the 7 or 8 in my book.... and i own an 8 lol

Yeah, seeing that i dont wanna blow 20 grand on a Twin turbo car that is 10 years old. Don't get me wrong, supra's can be fast, but when i buy a car like that im not gunna have money to mod it, i'll be making monthly payments. I'm prolly gunna save and just get an Evo8, i saw tailights you can buy to replaces the stock altezza's thats my only real beef with em.

yeah the JDM replacements are about 200 bucks a piece unless you know someone [thank goodness i do lol]... anyways they make TONS AND TONS of stuff for the EVO already, give it time and the prices will go down on the products...
they made them all the way to 98 I believe....
I don't like the Evo's anyways. Everyone is jumping on the WRX, EVO bandwagon becuase they are finally here. I would rather spend the money and get a slighty used M3 for the same price I could get an STi. AWD turbo has NOTHING on Inline 6 with 300+ HP great looks and unbelievable comfort...

first off i didnt JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON... i've wanted an EVO since the EVO 6 was out and when i first went to japan to see the Jun Evo 6 drifting around the tsukuba circuit... so dont try and say im a bandwagon junkie
m3's are nice, but they're everywhere... either way i can drive my friend's turbocharged 3 series if i wanted to... complete with sparco racing seats for that extra comfort and security...

the EVO8 beat out the STi in almost all categories on Car & Driver as well as in Japan... the STi is a good car, dont get me wrong, but the fact is the EVO is the better car all around

youd jump so far on an m3 it couldent catch up, The older m3's arent all that fast stock; i shit you not my friend beat one in his jeep v8, K&N intake(not air filter whole intake system, crazy ass gains on v8 jeeps), jet proformance chip, gibson exaust. The old m3's (96ish) only make 240 hp. And you know how much they cost to get a turbo or buy parts for, all of the aftermarket stuff is sooo expensive just cuz its a bmw. I used to be an m3 fan, and i still think they are beatiful cars but i saw the light, relized that they arent as great as i thought they were.
an another note, yeah i wanna save for like 6-10 months then get an EVO8 unless i can find a good deal on an STi, bottom line evo will be cheaper :\

your one of the few and far between.......ok, lemme refraise this.....95% of people out there are bandwagon jumpers.....
IMO...M3's are unbelievable. Comfortable, handle well, and are extremly fast..faster than most other cars out on the road. Example: One my friend got his M3 we were hangin out at my house with a bunch of people. He had the car two weeks. We were shootin the shit about his M3 and he said, Bill, take it for a beat run. I told him "get the fuck outta here", he said "no serious, its full, I just filled up, just put whatever gas you use back in". I said, lemme get this striaght, you want me to take your 50K car, and beat the bag out of it, then just fill it up???" he said "yeah"...ok then.....
so I take my boy steve out, and we get on the highway. easily we are doing from the bottom of the ramp to the top about 100 (and this isn't a very long ramp) we slow down and we go to my friend Jays house, who loves Bimmers. He wasn't home, so we decide to head BACK to my house. I let steve drive. We get back on the highway, and a 96 Corvette pulls past us, then slows. The driver looks next to ass, revs, and then guns it. Steve drops it a hair behind the other guy and just walked past him in the M3.....the car felt at 130 like you were doin 90......
Point of this story??? The M3 OWNZ!!!! there aren't that many around, and I have prolly seen more evos and sti's around than M3's in the last 3 months or so......
You have obviuosly never driven an M3......
The E46 is a mid to low 13 second car....
the E36 that you are talking about made about 260 HP, and was a low 14 second car. Parts ARE expensive, but if you can afford the M3, you can afford the aftermarket. Besides, they are pretty fast to boot.
and your buddy had to be able to pull atleast a mid 14, and my guess is, the E36 wasn't tryin all that hard.....if at all....

shit if you've ever heard of Port Hueneme, then you'd know thats where the BMW Plant imports ALL of their cars to the west coast... so believe me i've seen m3's up the ass... he'll i drove the 2003 m3 before it even came to the public market...
one night i was chillin at my friends gas station where we see all the german drivers testing the cars, and three m3s pulled in [all covered up with special tape] and filled up on gas, and they let us drive around with them for a bit and then i got a chance to drive... the car is fun and fast... but the fact is, the EVO is a better car all around...
believe me i had the option to buy an m3... shit i could go buy one right now if i wanted to, but i choose not to... for one even if you can afford the m3, it doesnt necessarily mean you can afford the aftermarket... believe me the aftermarket is quite expensive... i know a bunch of people with fixed up bimmers, and they spent a pretty damned nice penny on them... some upwards of over 65,000 in JUST MODIFICATIONS... and thet there is well more than the price of the m3 itself...
definatly don't live in Cali. You can have that state with your earthquakes, pollution and governatorial mess..... 
You prefer to buy an evo, thats cool, I prefer an M3. Whether it is a better all around car is your opinion and what you base it on. Like I siad earlier, IMO, I like the M3 becuase of the Comfort and luxury, the handling, the power. I do not like the Evo becuase of the looks and becuase of the build quality (I have had more than a few friends with various mitsubishis and IMO, the build quality is lacking).
You prefer to buy an evo, thats cool, I prefer an M3. Whether it is a better all around car is your opinion and what you base it on. Like I siad earlier, IMO, I like the M3 becuase of the Comfort and luxury, the handling, the power. I do not like the Evo becuase of the looks and becuase of the build quality (I have had more than a few friends with various mitsubishis and IMO, the build quality is lacking).

ok i admit yes mitsubishi doesnt have the best build quality... but shit neither does Cadillac... my escalade is a piece of shit, i wish i had gotten the newer model or even the harley truck as my tow vehicle... but i made a bad decision lol
its all good, im not downing the M3, cause im trying to get my aunt to buy one since she wants to get rid of her mercedes lol... i just gotta teach her how to drive a stick, cause aint no way im about to have an M3 at my house that is automatic

you have an escalade? Just out of curiosity, why did you buy an escalade? ALOT of pople here have Escalades, Navigators, Hummers, Excursions, Expiditions, Surburbans etc..... I assume that is why I see more Evos than M3's, becuase of the same reason people are stupid enough to buy Oversized luxury SUV's, becuase of the snow that we get. I really don't get it, we have snow, and yet my civic gets around fine in it. My RX-7 used to get around fine in it. hell my 1983 Celica which was RWD used to get around fine in it. I don't understand why these yuppie idiots NEED a 4WD suv in order to get around up here. It is amazing. In the middle of a snow storm on the highway, I will be doing 40 MPH, and some Yahoo will buz by me doing 65 thining becuase he has a 4WD vehicle, they can go as fast as they want, when in reality, once you get sliding, ALL 4 TIRES WILL SLIDE ALSO!!!!!
