i can maybe see replacing the head gasket but resurfacing is a waste of cash.
Here is what hasport recomends:
Clutch
timing belt
water pump
alternator belt
distributor cap and rotor
spark plug wires
spark plugs
radiator hoses upper and lower

Its not a waste of cash. Its not recommended but sometimes when you get older motors , oil sometimes leak from between the block and the head. This happen to my boy with his b16. He even replaced the head gasket and it still leaks. Since the motor is out already mind as well do it right? It cost about 100 over at the shop nearby. You DON'T HAVE TO but it wouldn't hurt right?
