Yip, any of the aforemention distros will do you fine and be easier than some of the more manual install versions.
Linux uses either grub or lilo mainly for a bootloader, and during install it is going to ask you where you want to install it. Install it on the MBR, I usually still set it up to use Windows as the default. Once you have it installed, you're probably going to want to edit the bootloader to time out a little longer. Redhats Fedora times out in five seconds default, so if you have just turned your machine on, you'll mioss it and go to Windows (or whatever you have as default)
