So, as many of you know, I have a USDM B18B (96+) w/an OBD1 harness, dis, and ECU in my car.


I found a decent deal on a JDM B16A SiR II motor



Now, the B16 is a motor only, so I'd be keeping the LS tranny

Worth swapping everything out again or leave it alone?
 
to do it right, you should swap the rods/pistons/ect and I'm not dropping that much more $$ on this car, I have other cars that need attention.



and like I said, I have to bang it out on a weekend...stripping it down to a shortblock and doing it right will take a bit longer than that
 
you don't need to swap the rods or pistons. i'd do the head swap as well.

its a 1-day job if you have the right parts.
 
what else do I need?

Head
water and oil pump
t-belt
ls/vtec kit
head gastket
head bolts

I just sold all my P28's too...I'd have to track down an ECU and get it chipped
 
I thought the LS water pumps weren't good for the high RPM's?




anyway, we'll see...now I'm thinking about it...The CRX comes back in a week or 2 and blah blah blah $$ $$$ $$
 
if you're not going to do the LS vtec i wouldn't fuck with it

look at the HP curves and then make your decision

you'll need to keep the B16 above 5500 rpm ALL the time to really get the experience...

LS vtec or sell the B16...

and do you have pics of the HKS kit? i wanna see :drool:
 
The HKS kit left CA 2 days ago, supposed to get here on the 11th.

I send you some pics when I get it.

and the A3 is the EW4 right?

i have an EW4 manifold with an adapter plate with a volvo turbo :mrgreen:
i just don't have the motor in my car anymore...
 
I didn't get it off ebay...it came from a guy on RPR





I still have to take pics of the hood....its friggin nice

Haven't put it on the car yet...its still in NH


Should fit well, the guy who made it test fits them on his (totally straight, never wrecked) car before he ships them out

I'd personally go with the LS/VTEC like everyone else said. If you put the B16 in you car with the LS tranny, you will be WAAAAAAAAYYYYY slower than with the straight LS. But on the plus side, you will be able to do 73mph in 2nd gear! :laugh:
