yes, it is possible to stretch a belt that badly. I would replace the belt and double check the tensioner as well as it could have been damaged. Were the cams out of time as well or just the crank
Just the crank. The marks on the cams were still lined up together. I think the crank stretched the belt which caused the crank to jump a tooth or two.
