Awesome! Isn't bill gates doing something along these lines. I thought I read he is giving each child a million and spending the rest on charity and research. I think it is awesome he made the money and wanted his kids to work for theirs as well.

I think Gates also has a list of things they must do first in order to get the million.

    Nope. Not a dime.

Bill Gates pledges his $58 billion fortune to charity... rather than his children | Mail Online

His kids have had every advantage possible to make their own fortunes. Plus, a name is a great thing to have.

Not unless they bought it themselves. His are in his name, aka part of his fortune, thus going to charity.

I personally thing the bill gates method is stupid.

why wati until your dead if you're just going to give it all away.

keep 1 billion to live on (lol) and donte the other 50-odd to shit like cancer research/etc/etc/etc NOW so many someone doesn't have to die from it instead of waiting another 20-odd years for bill to kick the bucket.

I believe he's trying to liquidate the majority of his fortune PRIOR to his death. It's just hard to do when your enterprises and holdings generate it faster than you can spend it...He's gotten an entire consortium of fellow billionaires to pledge to do the same or similar.

yeah, the parts that are in his name may be donated, but i doubt it.
i believe those would be left with family to keep the gates family in control of the company.
i dont think he would give away all of his shares and have the family lose the majority, if they still have it.

plus, i would bet on them already having a number of shares in their names already, he's only giving away whats his, so they arent his if they are in the kids names.

just souldnt be smart business to give away all the shares.

You simply can't throw money at a problem like that and have it fixed any faster. Well I suppose you could throw like 10 billion at cancer and build a 2 million acre cancer research campus that does nothing but research day in and day out with the best of the best people and tools, but you're at diminishing returns at that point.

What he should do is get all his billionaire buddies together just before he dies and unleash some super bug on them all that gives them all cancer or whatever disease he wants eradicated most. Then you know those guys will pour everything they have into finding the cure. :D

Or he could do something like forgive all college loan debt for a GPA of 3.0 and above. C'mon we all know that would help a bunch of us out. Hell at 3.5 give a "Bonus" and at 4.0 give a bigger bonus.
