From what I've read, putting an RSX Type S head on a K24 block makes for a badass engine, but ends up costing around 8k to complete. The TSX Type S head supposedly isnt THAT much different, just has higher compression and doesnt flow as better as the RSX Type S head. If I'm going to do a TSX build, it seems to me like the 8k could be much better spent on bolt-ons, turbo, etc... What is everyone's opinion on this?

[IMG] You answered your own question.

I think your math is off.$6,000 buys you a whole JDM k20A RSX(Integra)Type R engine/tranny.This head is better than the RSX Type S head. [IMG]

i believe that the TSX and the Type-s head are very similar if not the same. so to save money you can source a k24 bottom end and the type-s head rather than find a TSX engine as a whole which would cost more

You "should" just do the type-R swap from japan. . . It will save you money and headach. . . just buy the whole damn thing and call it a day. . .

there's no way a K24/K20A2 hybrid would cost you nearly that much to build. I don't even think the illustrious K22A build costs nearly that much...

I had a complete K24 longblock that I picked up for next to nothing because it had a warped head. A little trip to the machine shop and it would have been good to go. And supposedly it is possible to swap the true vtec (ala k20a2/tsx/etc) valvetrain over to the non-true-vtec heads, so if you can find a cracked/warped/otherwise damaged vtec head it would kinda be a cheapie alternative to paying out the ars for a true vtec head...

personally I would either roots supercharge a K20, centrifugal supercharge or turbo a K24, or just build the K22. All depends what you're looking to do with it tho...
