Kinda tired of Honda

To start things off this thread was not created to start a flame war. I'm just a little tired of numerous "street racers" rev'ing there engines at me and trying to race me. I was in the game for a while just trying to build a car to be used occasionally at the strip and track but mostly as a daily driver to get me to and from school/work. I've made a few exterior mod's but I've had this problem of always getting "picked on" since the first day I got the car. Of course the best remedy is to bring the hatchback back to its stock look while I think of something else to get, as this problem may still continue. Here in south San Diego, all kinds of car drivers are dicks, from metros, to caviliers, to millions of hondas and other imports. I'm thinking of stepping out of the game for a while at least until this fast and the furious mentality escapes the minds of all of these "racers". I'm thinking of getting rid of the civic and picking up something a little less likely to pick up the stare of those racers even though I may be wrong. I was thinking of something along the lines of a 99+ 3-series or a 96+ 4runner. Maybe I'm just pissed off for the dozens of times I've been rev'ed on in the past week and I'll keep the honda. Who knows? But in my current train of thought I really want to get a different car.

Don't flame me. I know most will say it's the way my car looks that gives the dicks here the idea to rev on me. But try driving any honda or import for that matter around here, some dick will rev up on you no matter how fast your car looks or is.

/end rant.

:cliffs:

tired of people rev'ing on me
want a new car
the end

Go old school.

It's still a Honda, nobody would suspect 200+ wheel HP in that, and even if it didn't have that much power, everyone would respect it because "old is cool."

if you get a truck, you'll rid yourself of the ricers, yes... but there's always the cowboys who'll race you in a truck. i had some fool just yesterday try to 'race' me in my 4 runner. what is the world coming to?

ps. my 4 runner is bone ass stock... the 4 cyl version.... i don't know what this guy was thinking.

Hello and welcome to half of the Hondaswap moderators and admins feelings. :)

hehe. Nice to know some people feel the same way. On another note, which ride would you guys prefer, the 3-series or a 4runner.

Let me tell you bro I agree with you totally, that is why I am going mazda. I am tired of front wheel drive, I want to rock out on the track, rage around turns. Granted my honda handles fairly well, but I can do better. I drive a primered up civic hatch at stock height on stock wheels at the moment, and I get rev'd at on a weekly basis. It is getting old fast, and i am sick of the phuckers who go out at night soley to rev at people at stop lights, and stop signs. It is getting old and fast. I am also sick of the lame ass kill stories I am reading on several honda sites not just this on about honda's beating stock cars, trucks, and other overweight or non-fixed up slow cars. Who cares, race a real fast car, race another civic or import that is fixed up. So you beat a stock 240 sx, great it is a heavy car with a lame KA24. If you were to post that you spanked a 240 with an SR20DET, rock on that is dope and a worthy kill story.
I guess that is the end of my rant but I definatly feel ya bro.

Heck, if I saw a 1st gen Civic on the street in good condition in this day and age, I wouldn't suspect anything LESS than 200hp. :)

Fort wayne is ghey. I've never been revved at in the Civic...

I got revved at in the Escort though...weird...I guess they saw the primer over the rust spot i cut out and thought I was fast.

He's got a speed spot y0! rev at him!!

well, it's rare that i ever got revved at considering everyone thinks i can't drive for shit... it's after the light turns green, and i get up in revs that they floor it and try to race me. otherwise it was a cat and mouse game on the freeway... but that got old fast.... i dunno... i know i'll like it again for a little while once my car is done... but i'll be back in this position sooner or later.... hahaha

sorry guys i didnt mean to rev you guys so much lol j/k yea its stupid. i get trucks all the time trying to race me revvin and shit. if i race its another honda or compact. even then i dont rev the guy. whenever they rev me i givem the your the shit look and smile real big and nod. "revving someone= teh gay" end of story

1984-1989 Toyota 4Runners are my favorite, and only SUV choice in the world. 4 cylinder SR-5 if you please.

For trucks, the only truck I like are the Subaru Brats.

Hey, I don't hate Hondas, nor do I think that half of the mods here do either. I just think that, we're realizing that making a Honda fast can be a money pit, and there are lots of other cars out there that offer better gains for the money. I loved my Honda to pieces, but I didn't have the money to throw at it another time around. The Accord was pretty damn fast, and looked awesome, but I dropped way too much money into it.

And on the topic of the thread, it seems like damn near every car that revs on me is some dork in a stock or near-stock Honda. Some guys pulled a ricer flyby on me in a lowered Accord the other night, and some kid with a dragon sticker on his Civic's rear window, otherwise stock, revved on me just yesterday. Most other people know to stay away. :D

I'll tell you what the wave of the future is... Geo Metros. I'm dead fucking serious. When I'm done with the 1200, I'm going to show you guys what beastly little cars Metros can be... You'll see...

Holy shit. Someone who shared my exact thinking from October of 2001. :worthy: :worthy:

I had a 91 Metro 3 cyl 5 speed making 55 hp

...put in a turbo sprint motor, upgrade the 5 speed, 13-14 inch tires...160 hp in an 1800 lb car would kick ass. :worthy:

Guess what...? Your stock motor shares the exact same forged pistons and rods that the turbo Sprint and Swift GTi use, which are capable of ~20 PSI with proper fuel tuning. In fact, EVERY Metro has these pistons and rods in 'em.

But I'll go ya one better... Swift GTi engine (DOHC 16 valve, 1300cc, 100 HP turbo) bolted to your stock tranny, or a convertible tranny (better ratios), with a bigger turbo, putting down 250 HP to the wheels. It's been done in Europe and is well within the mechanical capabilities of the engine.

Hu-RAH!

Oh yeah, and some thing constructive to add:

I'm getting kinda sick of all cars. I LOVE motoring, and I believe the worst thing to happen to the "sport" was the Model T. I think that motoring should harken back to days when people gave a tip of the hat to the fellow motorist, realising once again that it's this simple machine / box that has enabled our friends to grow in region, and our families to move very far away.

I think that it's not the number and prices of cars that have led to our soul-less downfall of driving appliances, but the design and style of them . Vehicles without a heart don't inspire. Hondas weren't really an inspiring car to me, at first, but over time I learned differently.

Someone in deepest, darkest heathen Japan actually poured effort into making this car. And designing it. It's a good design that works for everyone that bought them.

It's only by my introduction that I've realised that the car isn't heartless. So barring mass production and commonality, There are lists of cars that I compare:

1972-1985 Celicas have soul.
1986-2004 Celicas do not.
Ford Escorts lack not only heart and soul, but a reason for existence.
Ford Escort EXPs are some of the cutest little cars made.
1976 Fox Body Mustangs aren't fast at all, but they tried. They also have heart.
1996 Mustang 4.6s should have a warning label "may cause drowsiness"

I'm alittle sick of the whole thing. It's always a matter of who buys the hottest thing out of Japan, and is quickest to build it up ala Japanese. Homey fool #1 gets more popularity because he purchased the JDM wing before Homey fool #2. And so on.

Lastly, I don't really like post 91 Hondas. Sure, they are still great cars, but the aftermarket is so flooded with "one off" parts that anything you do to it seems like it's not enough. Now even papercutter doors and hybridded motors simply aren't enough.

I enjoy and appreciate cars that speak for themselves, and the quality of work and ideas that you put into them. I appreciate carbon fiber only when the intent is to lighten the car. I appreciate a car that is a significant car, with attention to detail. I feel it's better to and more impressive to restore a 1971 Chevelle to original shape than it is to build a flashy, graphicked 2004 Toyota. I think it's more important to the car culture to give thoughtful fabricated modifications to a 1982 Supra than it is to chip and body kit a 1998 Supra.

And finally, I beleive in a car if not for it's actual steel, but it's group of like-minded owners. I would own (I'm now on my second Honda) based greatly on the fan-base that it includes (That's you guys). I will buy another First gen CRX because of RPR and I will not buy a second Gen because of The Resource.

I now step off my soapbox.

:werd: I never had a chance to learn much about the motor. I would have rather thrown in the 1300 cc motor for the added displacement and torque. 100 hp is doubling the horsepower but the added torque from the 1300 cc motor also doubles the torque, which is what I wanted to pull for. I also hated my 5 speed, the throws were long and first gear redlined at 15 mph. Gear ratios definitely needed to be changed.

When you start on this project you'll have to keep me updated. I still want to do this as well...I just completely forgot about it until now. :)
