I have a compaq presario 572US laptop that I just upgraded the hard-drive and memory in.
My question is, can i upgrade the AMD TK-53 Socket S1 cpu with a faster TK-57 or turion series cpu?
Google isn't helping me out too much, and I'm unsure if laptop cpu's are as easy to upgrade as desktop's.

you could upgrade it with the same series of processor, with a higher clock speed. that is about it.

gotta find out what the board is and what it will support. the 'socket' is just the overall plug in size.

Note, you should re-install windows/etc after any cpu change, to rebuild the HAL correctly. it is not like ram or a hard drive.

Check manufacturers website regarding BIOS. If there isnt a newer BIOS that doesn't adds support to newer processors, it'll be useless even if it is the right socket.

In that case, you'll be limited to processors with the same stepping or lower.
