A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives And a Conservatives reply!

    November 14th, 2006

To My Conservative Brothers and Sisters,

I know you are dismayed and disheartened at the results of last week's election. You're worried that the country is heading toward a very bad place you don't want it to go. Your 12-year Republican Revolution has ended with so much yet to do, so many promises left unfulfilled. You are in a funk, and I understand.

Well, cheer up, my friends! Do not despair. I have good news for you. I, and the millions of others who are now in charge with our Democratic Congress, have a pledge we would like to make to you, a list of promises that we offer you because we value you as our fellow Americans. You deserve to know what we plan to do with our newfound power -- and, to be specific, what we will do to you and for you.

Thus, here is our Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives:

    Dear Conservatives and Republicans,

I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you:

    1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us.

Good input Michael. As the subject matter expert on name calling I’m sure you have allot of input on this…

    2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift.

Wonderful, and based on Europe’s statistical data marriage rates overall will decline to nearly a 3rd of what they are now causing citizens to pay greater taxes (which I know dems hate) and families to be raised out of wedlock.

    3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you.

No you’ll reinstate the death tax and when we die the government will spend our money…

    4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie.

And then you’ll create a power vacuum in the Middle East which will lead to an even worse Iraq government then Saddam had. Worse yet Iraq will probably become an Annex of Iran. You will undoubtedly blame this on President Bush…

    5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too.

And we will take one step closer to Socialism or all out Marxism. I lived in Europe long enough to know that health care belongs in the private sector; perhaps if we stopped paying everyone who filed a claim against their doctor 20 million dollars I wouldn’t have had to pay $500 for a tetanus shot…

    6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water.

And the next time oil goes up to $76/barrel remember that we could have drilled in Alaska and still preserved the habitat. The only reason this and Health care reforms were turned away by the Dems was because you were afraid of the credit going to a Republican government… Go watch Al Gore’s movie...

    7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you.

And then you will refuse to execute him, allow him endless appeals at the tax payer’s expense, give him a private cell with cable TV and special meals, and provide the same rights to terrorists as to American criminals who haven’t declared war on us. Let’s not forget that Clinton tried to get Bin Laden throughout his administration and also failed to bring him in…

    8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived.

So you’re not changing anything then? Alright, moving on…

    9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours.

I believe the verbiage given by the founding fathers is “A nation armed against itselfâ€, this is a much worse form of big brother then wanting to know if you called Saudi Arabia at 3am to discuss terror plots…

    10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too.. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too.

Raise minimun wage and prices go up due to inflation and higher operating costs; in the end you’ve done nothing

    11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world.

You just can’t talk about it in public, especially not if your Judeo/Christian. Being a successful White Christian man will continue to be the biggest social crime you can commit on American soil

    12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition.

But after you’re all out of office how do you purpose to make any of your other changes, and how will Hillary run in 2008? I’m confused…

I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world.

    Signed,

    Michael Moore

As I officially duck out of this political thread (I exercise the Celerity "'I hate you all' clause", I do want to say that the republican response isn't good enough. I want people to realise, finally, that the US rejected KYOTO because current US measures in place to regulate pollution are STRONGER THAN KYOTO, and by ratifying KYOTO we would actually be more polluting.

I'm done with this though, I'm not going to comment anymore to these liberal crackpots.

Michael Moore needs to stop talking, all he does is ruin any credibility for the side he takes by releasing sensationalist videos and pushing too far. He is the Left Wing equivalent of Bill O'Rielly.

Yeah - O'Reilly isn't off-base politically ALL the time (just some of the time), but he'd get a lot more respect from me if he weren't such a fucking douchebag.

Although, lemme tell ya - Glenn Beck is one of my new faves. After that Islam thing last night, I am impressed.

He was such a jerk when he first got his show on CNN.

Awww, panties still in a bunch?

Mikey has gone far too left for my tastes. However, here's a bit of a reponse to Silver's response.

    1. As a liberal, I am pretty godamn tired of you right wingers calling anyone who does not goose step behind you "unpatriotic". How dare you. I am a citizen of this country, I love this country. Just because I don't believe that we are getting the "job" done, does NOT make me unpatriotic! Your desires to label everyone who disagrees with you as "terrorists" and "unpatriotic" is unpatriotic in itself!

    2. You think gay marriage will instantly make this happen?! Look at Brittney fuckin' Spears for Christ's sake! THAT is the problem that "endangers the sanctity of marriage", not the gays. Don't blame your dysfunctional issues on other people just because you don't want to be called what you are!

    3. The "Death Tax"... funny. Call it what it is instead of your right-wing spin name. The Estate Tax. Why get your panties all in a bunch because Rupert Jacobs III will be out a million or so dollars when his billionaire daddy dies, which by the way, is pocket change to the people this affects.

    4. Like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target. The war was based on falsehoods, and yes, lies. That should never happen again. We could have better spent our manpower (and 1/2 trillion bucks) on... catching Osama! Wow, novel thought there! Iraq is more of a mess than it was when we got there in the first place. Sure, we'll blame THAT on Bush, he's the one that sent our boys and girls to war.

    5. Ya know why you pay half a grand for a tetanus shot? Think pharmacos. The guys that make said medicine and overcharge out the yin-yang for it. Drugs are a lucrative business, especially those that keep you alive. If you don't think universal healthcare is a good idea, then target the companies that want nothing more than what's in your back pocket, only giving nasty side effects in return.

    6. "The next time" oil goes to 76 bucks a barrel. Any idea why it's that way now? There's just enough oil up in frozen-land to give us a fix for a short while. It isn't a permanent fix. IMHO, alternative fuels are the trick to this game.

    7. Where's Osama?

    8. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

    9. This is where you and I agree. The 2nd is there for a reson. However there needs to be better regulation of weapons in this country. If your kid takes your gun and pops off a few rounds in his teacher's skull, you should be in that jail cell next to him. Keep your guns locked up.

    10. Perhaps we can make up that money in other ways... CEOs that give themselves 200,000/yr raises is a start.

    11. Damn, must be a lot of criminals then. I am all for religious freedom... but that means freedom FROM it too. Don't make laws because your God says something is wrong. Also I would like it if you didn't knock on my door at 8am on a Saturday while I'm still sleeping. You do what you want, I'll do what I want... don't push your shit on me, and I won't push my boot up your ass.

    12. By hoping that the people that are in office will make compromises. *I* don't want Hillary to run.

Things like this are why you pay 500 for a shot:

"Kaiser Permanente, the largest HMO in the U.S., has spent about $4 billion dollars on an unreliable electronic medical record system that is impacting patient care, according to a 722-page internal report revealed by Computerworld. The CIO resigned after the news came out, and CEO George Halvorson is telling the media that the goal is an alarmingly low 99.5% uptime and that all the problems are really just power outages. Yesterday, Slashdot covered a story about the possibility that the NHS in the UK could now claim the 'biggest IT disaster' prize, but Americans, fear not: so far, the Brits are running a much more efficient failure at $24,000 per physician per year, while America's KP is spending $76,920 per physician, per year on its failing project."

No, that's not why we pay $500 for a shot.

We pay $500 for a shot because of Karl Rove, and George Bush ! Dammit Silver, don't you watch the news ? Why is it that the REST OF THE WORLD (Yes, EVERYONE) says one thing and you have to hold on to BushCo's ideas of why things happen !

George Bush is EVIL and he should be shot (To quote Peace Mom, Cindy Sheehan)

George Bush is totally evil, because he lied to the world and personally sent millions of soldiers to die because his father lost a war in 1991 !

HAHAHAHAHA OH man.. I can't even say this shit without laughing.

to address my medical bill for a moment it's itemized

Those evil people at the pharmaceutical cooperation jacked up the price of that drug so much that they had to charge me a whopping $37 for it, bastards!

The there was about $167 for the doctor to talk to me for 45 seconds and hand me a paper on after car for inoculations

then there was a $331 bill for the girl upfront to take my information (I was already in the computer), and take my temp, blood pressure...

    $535 dollars

America is no longer worth arguing about. Move to Alaska and join my Independence Revolution! Everyone can have 20 square miles of wilderness, their own private oil well, and a small army of eskimos.
