ive been getting some email from mainly SouthTrust bank(we've never given them our email information); here's what it says(ive gotten 4 emails of the same thing):

The link doesnt point to that southtrust website, and ive copy and pasted the link into my browser and that website isnt the bank's website. Anyways, ive found out that its actually directed towards my "Local Folder" in Thunderbird. is there anyway to turn this off or disable it someway?

also, 3 of them say its from Southtrust.com, and one says its from paypal(all with the same message). My paypal account isnt connected with my Southtrust bank account, but is connected with Bank of America.

i know; but thing is i shouldnt have gotten a email from southtrust anyways because they dont know my email information. Also, i dont think that's SouthTrust's webpage, if you go on the host name it shows theres no owner or whatever.

What im thinking is Thunderbird is getting this mail from somewhere else(not actually sent to me), since its under Local Folders; and im trying to figure out how to turn this off or disable whatever it is that's going on. Its pretty annoying.

Phishers....light up some, oh, er, no wait....yea phishing, Contact you bank and tell them, but I can tell you, NO bank is going to ask for you login, password, nothing from an email link as well as Paypal, any credit card company, nobody. Sounds like a good one though, they install the fear that someone might be trying to hack you account, then ask you to give them the real password.

    werd.. just fishing.

usually thunderbird will catch bad urls like
isuck.paypal.com.someothersite and most people will click it and get scammed.

    be smart.

    NEVER click anything.

if you think it might be valid--

STILL don't click it-- manually open a browser, and type in paypal.com

This is not legitimate. It is a scam. It's happening everywhere. Here is a brief explanation on my Bank's website:

Depends on the link. It could DL something to your computer, be a script, or just hoping you'll enter your info.

yea i knew it could be a scam or something; but how do i get rid of it? The email is not directed to any of the email addresses on thunderbird, it was simply in the Local Folders section(but not connected to any of the accounts), and i think thunderbird is recieving it from somewhere else(not from my isp's email server).

also, my emails are listed in descending order based on date, but those bank emails are appearing at the top.

oh damn i had another one yesterday but deleted it. ive noticed that all of the ones i got are Paypal or Southtrust related. the paypal sites in the links are www.paypal**.com, **=just any two random letters; ive received 3 of those and each time they were different.

since you think it might be spyware ill run spybot. thanks.
